You shouldnt take sleeping pills unless you know how you will react with them. When I went out of the country few people I know tried taking some and they were sick the entire flight.

Stay up the night before at a strip club, have a happy dream as you fly.

Sleeping pills ? Rookie.

Combine a benzodiazepine, barbituate, and alcohol for maximum effectiveness.

Seriously though, the over the counter sleep aids are pretty much worthless. They will leave you feeling groggy and tired. They're just repackaged Benedryl (Diphenhydramine HCL). Nyquil might not be so bad. Melatonin, at least for me, is very subtle in effect.

Your best bet would be to obtain some short half life benzodiazepines such as Xanax (Alprazolam) or Halcion (Triazolam). They will take the edge off while making you drowsy and relaxed. The latter is used by military special forces while flying to their destination.
good advice. Find someone with some benzo's like valium (5-10mg) or klonopin (2-4mg) and have a drink or two at the airport bar.

Within an hour you'll be fast asleep

If you can find an ambien, take one with a drink and that will put you to sleep within 15 minutes!

...or you could take 450-600mg of Dextromethorphan (Robotussin/Theraflu cough&cold strips) and trip your balls off

funny story, when i was in brazil 2 years ago, i met a us ranger, he gave me some sleeping pills, like what daniel l mentioned- Halcion (Triazolam). i asked how strong they were. he said that he took them on his trips to afghanistan and to iraq and one time, he took one just as he was getting seated, saw that he had to mount his weapon in the cabinet, so he got up and walked the few steps to the locker area of the plane, as he turned around the plane started to move off, and it was kinda bumpy, he struggled to get to his seat as he was being thrown side to side, he gets in his seat, looks out the window and the plane hadnt moved, next thing he knows, he is waking up in sunny afghanistan.

i took one, left rio, next thing i know, were flying over vanuatu some 9 hours later, i was out.

get the prescription ones if u can, or take half a box of the over the counter ones
Lmao that ranger story is great. Those pills sound awesome for flights, I imagine they were great for a flight to Australia.

I like to starve myself, get alot of excercise like running or yoga the night / day before, and very little sleep. Then I eat two giant apple fritters when I get on the plane. Crashville.

I'm going to Shanghai within the next few months, good info. here. I can't stand sitting on a plane for more than a few hours, say the longest domestic flight like L.A. to NYC. I'm about to jump out of my seat and do jumping jacks by the time we land. I was planning on taking some OTC pills and a shot the week before I left to test it out so I don't end up making myself sick on the plane.

I know a buddy who went to Germany and ended up almost having to be hospitalized his motion sickness was so bad from drinking and taking some OTC sleeping pills.
