If he is into fashion, A Boss or Zegna shirt will do nicely.

You must be a weather gadget guy like me. Seen this?

I have the basic set up - inside/outside temp, wind speed, wind direction, wind chill, time, metric conversion.

He's not into fancy clothes at all. I don't think he's the Hugo Boss type of guy. He's more of a laid back, casual, jeans and t-shirt/sweater dresser.

I'm not saying that he's a slob, because he's not. He does look good in what he wears, but he doesn't like spending a lot of money on clothes and I don't think he would like being bought an expensive shirt/etc.

In that case, BG, how about a book (or book series) that he likes or wants to read? For the laid back types (of which I am one ) a good book can be great fun

For my birthday that recently passed, my lady sewed me a small teddy bear. It smelled like her too. <sigh> I took her to an empty ball field and sat in the metal bleachers, holding her and watching the sky fade to black. Anyway, try making him something. ^_^
