Whats the price of gas this week?
At the (slightly cheaper) place I buy gas from here in Los Angeles, it was $2.31 per gallon for 91 octane on Saturday.
An article in the LA Business Journal yesterday said that including the gasoline we sell to Nevada and Arizona, our demand exceeds California's refining capacity at present. Existing plants have upgraded their capacity almost as much as possible, and new plants are highly unlikely for cost and environmental reasons. Our real problem is the demand. We have more people endlessly moving to California, more people buying gas chugging SUVs, and few are willing to take public transportation. My car is not very fuel efficient either, but I don't use it for commuting!
