Do us all a favor, stay at home and do the best you can, there. Forget the military. I want dedicated, decisive, and deserving individuals at the tip of my spear.

Your 1st SGT was a smart man.

Not that it means much coming from me (especially from youre POV) but I swear there was a time, long ago, when 1/2 the stuff you posted did not make you look like an ass hat, but I guess that was a while ago heh?

I joined the air force at 17, and now at 30 yrs old, I'm still going strong as a Helicopter Pilot.

Some have the knack for it, and some don't - BOTTOM LINE. Some have easier career paths than others.

For me, similar to Young R, I went to a military college out of high school, so I was able to mix my military and college "life experiences" together at the same time. And when it came time to graduate, I was ready to take on my military trade.

Talk to your parents, talk to a recuiter and figure out what is right for you. A bunch of random, attention starving s2ki posters, including me, aren't going to decide for you.

I think you should sit down and figure out what you want out of life before deciding what career path you're going to follow.

There are plenty of books out there that can help you do some self-analysis, such as this one:

Check out some of the other links for similar books.

SRT,

You remind me of a friend of mine. Bouncing around and not sure what you want to do. Trying things on a whim but not following through.

He is now 40, and quit five colleges. He never finishes anything. He finally got a degree from an internet school and can't find a job. The two that were offered to him he quit the first day because "they were not right for him." He started out with promise but is now pretty much a bum. His wife pays for his dead ass.

You mission in life is to not be that guy. I personally think sticking it out in the army would have been the best thing you could have done. Is it scary at your age? Perhaps. But I honestly think that finishing something, even something that scares the piss out of you (surgical techs are generally not the ones getting shot at) will only make you stronger.

I also think that looking at the airforce is looking for the same thing but in your mind, an easier way. What we are talking about is mental toughness or lack thereof. You have got to find some becaue once you find you can get over the first big hurdle, the rest only get easier.

It is easy for me to say, I did not serve in the military. I went to all the recruiters but had to lousy eyesight and would not be allowed to fly. I wanted to fly Apaches Cobra's or A-10's. Since I could'nt, I chose college instead.

That is not to say that my life has not been without hurdles, but at some point I just found out I (and most people with average intelligence) could do whatever I set my mind to as long as you don't half-ass it or quit.

Good luck.
