Default When You Drive With Windows Down...

Just wondering, if you drive a 4 door sedan or convertible and you have your windows down, does the outside air create a vaccum effect? I notice whenever I drive with a window or windows down, lint, paper, loose stuff just starts flying out! Lazy man's vaccum cleaner???

yes, vaccum, but just very low powered

go around the speed of 500mph, like in a Airliner, your hold car would feel like it's in the mouth of a huge Hoover

I crack the rear windows just a bit as well to reduce the amount of wind. Seems to be less violent if you do that.

BTW, as far as the vaccum part goes, it does create a low pressure area outside your car that tends to make things inside want to fly out. However, since your car is rigid, it has to retain some air so when the resistance reaches max for air being pushed out, some of it goes back in. Remember that things want to even out. Anyway, in a nutshell, you get kind of a small tornado in your car from the pressure changes.

yes vaccuum

BTW, if you have spoiler on your car, it's the same principle. Ditto for airplane wings.
