The quality of the clothes at the Bannana Repulic outlet is lower than many of the clothes you would get at Target.

Land End was an excellent suggestion for your price range. However, I would suggest investing a little more money in better quality clothes. If you buy right they will last three times as long and you will end up saving money in the end.

For instance Brooks Brothers non-iron dress shirts can be gotten on sale very often. These shirts will hold up like no other dress shirt and look perfectly pressed through multiple wearings.

Also if you do not currently wear undershirts, get in the habit. It will extend the life of your shirts.

Also look for sales at Bachrach, they have deceptively nice pants. I wouldnt buy anything else there but they have very nice slacks.

I'd rather buy clothes on sale or clearance from a more expensive place rather than pay full retail price at one of the lower-end stores, like Target. You probably get what you pay for, and I'm guessing most people would be able to dell the difference between Banana Republic and Target.
this is why I said to check out target before you knock it...what you're saying is simply not true. Target has great quality clothing that is just about as good and in some instances better than more expensive brand stores like gap, american apparel, etc. also, it seems like a lot of young people confuse brand name/expensive clothing with good clothing. Go ahead...waste your money on that little label all you want

I don't know... I can always tell the difference between the clothes I buy at Target and the ones from Banana Republic. Yes, you can find brand name stuff at Walmart, Target, J. Byrons, etc. But there's always something about their clothes that is not right; their fit is not perfect. They always look a little weird, like something is off. I think those stores get the oddball rejects that the higher brand stores won't sell. Banana Republic stuff always feel right. One thing though, you better be in shape to sport most of their clothes!

Also, you don't need a closetfull of Banana Republic stuff. So what if their clothes are twice as expensive? Ten nice fitting and good looking shirt/pants combos are much better than 20 or more mediocre ones. Mix and match and you can look and feel stylish almost every day of the week for a whole year or more without spending a fortune.

Clothes are a good investment. Don't cheapen out on them. Why spend over $2000 on wheels and tires for our cars which only a few select people will even notice (and most of them male, I might add) and then try to save $30 on a shirt that you'll wear often and creates an impression about your character to girls, coworkers, bosses, girls, friends, family, business parterns, loan officers, girls, cops, valet attendants, teachers, customers, girls, and of course, girls?

Anyway, to answer the original question, my favorites are:
Business casual: Banana Republic, Macy's
Everyday casual: Gap, Macy's
Everyday casual on a budget: Old Navy

Why do you say that? Wouldn't the outlet stores be selling the exact same merchandise that the retail stores sell?

Not necessarily. Sometimes they get the stuff that didn't pass quality control or just wasn't put together properly. Most of the time the clothes are fine, but you do need to make sure you check the labels so that you don't buy the junk by mistake.

I do most of my shopping at the Neiman Marcus and Saks Off Fifth outlets, and I also like the stuff I get from this place. It's good value when on sale:

I will usually just get khakis (like Dockers) from a department store when they have a sale. I usually get suits at Nordtrom's Rack and sport coats/blazers at Men's Warehouse.

Goodwill has some quality clothes from time to time. I have found quite a few clothes that still had their original price tags still attached.

There are few large stores that still use their normal clothes in the outlets. The Gap companies are the worst that I have seen. The Banana Republic outlet clothes use the same patterns as the clothes in the stores but the cloth and the stitching is awful. Your better off sorting through the sales rack in the real store.
