Where do you shop for clothes?
banana republic is expensive... i bought all my work gear from there when i had to be in a button-up / tie / business slacks everyday. purchased 5 ties, 4 slacks, and a couple of button ups from express. i spent almost 1000$ in a day. DO NOT SHOP HERE. lol
you want nice dress shirts for a cheap price, go to express. 40$ for 2 when they have their sale. and it's frequent they have a sale for these shirts.
slacks... go to some department stores. i remember MACYS were selling dockers for like 20$ each.

Depends what type of cloths i'm shopping for.I only have two kinds of cloths... the nice stuff or the cheap stuff.for the cheap stuff i shop at ROSS (mostley for T shirts)and sometimes i get some things from COSTCO and for the nicer cloths i like the South Coast plaza in OC they have shops like Armani,Hugo,Donna Karen,etc...since i'm living in Nevada i don't get to go to South Coast Plaza very often..it seems like i've been going to ROSS alot.

Express spring clearance sale, FTW
pick up an Express jacket there for $75 (from $280) and you'll be hooked...
When I got my first job out of college I needed a whole new professional wardrobe and I headed to Nordstrom's Rack.
I got 4 Italian Wool Suits for about $100-$150 each. Ike Behar, Kenneth Cole, and Hugo Boss Dress shirts for about $20-40 each. Got a few pair of dress shoes for like $50-$75 each. My last visit they had a rack of very nice Hugo Boss Suits for $300-$400, too bad they didn't have my size.... Those suits normally can run $1000+ The cut is excellent and fit and finish are great. They also occasionally will get Armani, Burberry, and others.
If you can find a Nordstrom's rack I would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend checking them out first.
I used to wear Express in college, I had so many of those MX shirts but just didn't find the quality of their clothing all that great. Although their wool dress slacks are nice. I have gotten a few of those as well. Although since combing through TJ Maxx, Loehmann's, and Nordstrom's rack I can find similar quality and styled Kenneth Cole dress slacks for $20-$30 where at Express i paid about $80-100 a pair.
Banana Republic is also nice, but I always buy their shirts on Clearance after the season is almost over for like 1/4th or 1/3 the original price. I'd gladly pay $50-75 for a nice Hugo Boss Shirt or Ike Behar, but not for a Banana Republic shirt. I get those when they cost about $25.
My gf is an avid deal shopper so I've learned from the best. I get top quality clothes at incredible prices. I go to target for things like Work out clothes, t shirts, and sweatshirts and the like, but not for work clothes. The quality just doesn't compare to a decent brand name shirt. And you can get them at Nordstrom's rack for $15-$20 for a nice nordstrom/perry ellis brand dress shirt. So it's not even about price. Its about being savvy.
In order of best quality/value ratio:
1. Nordstrom's Rack (great for shoes too)
2. TJ Maxx
3. Marshalls - Not as many higher end brands, but pricepoints are cheaper and you can find decent quality clothing here for very cheap. Dress shirts can range from like $8 to like 15-20
3. Loehmanns (much more higher end clothing(Hugo Boss, Theory, Zegna) and not a big selection of men's clothing, but you find the occasional diamond in the rough here, since many men don't shop here), I picked up a nice pair of French Connection UK(funny I typed in F.C.U.K and it blocked it out. how funny) slacks here for $15, original price was probably around $125 or more
For shoes if you have a DSW nearby, that will be your best bet.
I personally don't find Off Saks outlets to be that great in terms of price or selection, and don't visit them often, but I'm sure you could probably find similar deals if you look hard enough.
No Neiman Marcus outlet here, so never got the chance. Isn't that only in Dallas?
Congrats on your job. Now go get a new wardrobe.

H and M is fine for clubby and casual gear but their dressy stuff is crap. You get what you pay for here. Plus, once you're older and in the working world, you'll soon realize the styles are really for High schoolers. I think even most college guys wouldn't shop there much. Although womens clothing there is different.
Also since you're in Michigan, if you're not too far away from Chicago, you should just drive over and hit all the places mentioned above. Most of them are located around one another. There is one section in the northshore with (Nordstrom's Rack, Loehmanns, and Marshall's side by side). And in the woodfield area(if you're familiar) also has a Nordstrom's Rack, Marshalls, and Off saks 5th all next to eachother.
Try a search on their websites to see if anything is closer to you.
Also why get sport coats when you can get suits for $150. A suit can be worn so many ways. Business casual without the jacket, formal with the jacket, after work with the jacket and some nice jeans, etc... Grant it in a business casual environment you will probably not need many suitcoats or jackets to begin with. Just load up on khakis, chinos, dress slacks etc.. and plenty of shirts and/or sweaters(if they allow that, mine does).
