Where were you on 9/11/01?
I had just returned from New Orleans on a flight the previous day. I was a little late getting in to work and I don't listen to the radio in the morning but traffic was behaving strangely. I can't really explain it. Everyone was moving slowly without reason or traffic jam. People looked dazed.
I turned on my radio and the first thing I heard was, "The tower is GONE! If you are not watching this, its just GONE! It totally collapsed."
I took a while for me to figure out what was going on. When I got to work everyone was huddle around a tv and they were just beginning to show a bunch of replay of the second plane slamming in.
A friend of mine lost his brother at a brokerage firm in one of the towers. He gave a speech at a memorial at our state capitol just yesterday.
I spent much of the next year glued to news networks thinking there was another shoe going to drop, or waiting for some military footage of payback.

i was washing a ford focus at enterprise rent-a-car in glendale, az. i heard the reports coming over the radio. i thought it was some joke that morning shows usually do in the morning. we later had a tv up in the office and we were watching the news on that the rest of the day.
