White Collar vs Blue Collar...
I remember a little while ago, the company I work for had a bad year, so the entire executive board gave up their own bonuses [something like 10-15 million] to give anuual bonuses to all front line employees. It was a pretty nice gesture. Everybody ended up getting an extra 300-1500 depending on position and time with company.
So not all execs are money-grubbing freaks? I dunno, maybe I just got lucky.

Another story - a while back, Country Home Products' patent on the DR Trimmer Mower ran out. They ran into difficulties while they were trying to find their way in a new competitive environment. They had to lay off a good number of people - from about 250 to 170, I think? Even so, if a married couple worked for the company, they tried to lay off only one of those people. And the two owners of the company put in millions of dollars of their own personal money. After a while, things turned around, they were doing well again, and many of the people laid off were hired back.
