There is one street in town where I've seen that sign, but I think it is warranted in this case. It is a known shortcut that commuters take to get around some congestion, so they tend to speed down it.
Yeah, that's almost "OK"... but in that case, I just wouldn't let my kids play in the street or front yard. I'm sure there may be people that speed down my street, but my neighborhood doesn't really get a lot of traffic, because it's not really a "thru" street. It's effectively a block that just hangs off the main street, but there's nowhere to go but in & back out. It's not connected to any other blocks/streets.

Didn't you know it takes village to raise a child? God this country is going to hell in a hand basket. Thank Oprah and all those moronic fuhcking drones that carry out her demands. Fuhcking soccer moms, hate em all.

The kicker is, we've got a huge bitch of a soccer (hockey) mom that'll probably be the next VP.

Watch the movie PCU. It foretells what we are currently living.

Get a cheap rental car with insurance and go down the road and plow into her stupid signs and tell her they should not be in the road. Then drive away and smile.

The parents should be totally responsible for their kids. I have told myself many many times that my kid will not play in the street and/or throw a tantrum in a public place. Two of my pet peeves.

I was driving down a residential street and was going about 20 because I do know that kids play down that street (and never get out of your way). One girl about 6 who was standing on the curb thought it would be funny to 'pretend' to jump out in front of my car and then she laughed. If she would have accidentally fallen off the curb I would have hit her and then it would have been my fault. I felt like getting out of the car, banging on their front door and having it out with her parents.

I also think it has to do with engine noise as well.

I was rolling through a neighborhood doing about 28mph (on the speedo which is usually high), speed limit is 25. I had some lady who was unloading their FJ Cruiser with her daughter yell at me to slow down. I ended up slamming on my brakes and turning around in the next intersection and driving back up to her and speaking to her in a firm and annoyed tone, but not disrespectful or yelling -

Me: "What is your problem?"

Her: "You shouldn't be driving through this neighborhood like a bat out of hell!"

Me: "How fast do you think I was going?"

Her: "Like 40!"

Me: "I was doing barely over 25mph. Make sure you know what you're talking about before making a fool of yourself"

Her: "Uh...Uh.."

Me: "Yeah, kiss my ass"

All of this in front of her jailbait daughter too.
Omg, I so wish I did that a few weeks ago. I was leaving from my moms neighborhood, lady on the side walk with stroller yelled for me to "slow down." I was in second gear, and was just under 25. I wish I slammed on my brakes at that time (would have stopped in a matter of feet) and told her to STFU.

Seriously, its just like cops. Pure profiling. And yet, the other day going through my moms neighborhood, this b!tch in her Minivan is flying through the neighborhood. Such bs.

Oh, and my mom is guilty of using those kids signs. I don't mind it so much, as at least it warns the driver that there are kids play around on the sidewalk or whatever. To be honest, it nots just about her kids, I think most people would honestly feel some serious guilt if the hit a kid and hurt them, even if it wasn't their fault.

So, I'm on my way home tonight and I'm driving down my street. On either side, I see what appear to be those janitor signs that they put out in the bathroom after they pretend to mop the floor. As I get closer, I see that it's not a janitor sign at all, but a sign that says "Slow: Children Playing", and of course I see the mom chasing her 2 year old on a tricycle to get her of the way as I approach (and I also see 4 or 5 other 6-10 year old kids playing in the front yards on the sides of the street).

OK, kids playing in a neighborhood street, no big deal. I did it when I was a kid, and I learned to be attentive of my surroundings and get out of the way when a car was coming. I didn't expect the traffic to yield to me. It's a street, not a playground. And more importantly, my parents didn't put up a sign telling other people living in the neighborhood that they need to make a point to slow down for us kids. My parents' philosophy: If I couldn't get my dumb ass out of the street, then I deserved to get run over. If I died, they'd make a new kid and hopefully it would be smarter. Darwin effect and all.

So, on top of this, I couldn't help but think about the fact that my neighborhood is less than a 50 yard walk to a City Park with a soccer field, baseball diamond, basketball court and lots of open areas to play in... and this lady wants me to slow down so her kids can play in the street!!! She can kiss my pasty white ass!

So, that's my rant for the day. I just thought you guys might like to be entertained by my tale of the stupid soccer mom on my street that thinks that the life of the entire community revolves around her kid(s).
If the parents gave a shit about their little kids they would NOT be letting them play in the streets.

I have many times in the past, when someone yells at me to slow down, returned it with a quick downshift and flooring it. They can get bent. I don't tell them how to drive, they shouldn't tell me how to.
