huge pet peeve of mine

shit used to happen to me more than once a week in my buick

I would just be cruising down a residential street at 15-20mph and someone would run across their yard up to the sidewalk and scream SLOW DOWWWN!

at that point i would slam on the brakes and the dialogue would go about how it has been in this thread "what did you say? / SLOW DOWN! THERE ARE KIDS HERE / excuse me, i was going 15mph, the speed limit is 30, maybe you need to get your eyes checked / DONT LIE, YOURE JUST SOME PUNK KID! / ma'am why on earth would i want to ruin my brand new paint job by hitting one of your kids? / cursing, screaming, lols

buick in question is an 84 t-type with a big turbo, a big cam, and an open downpipe thats about a foot long... could hear me coming from over a block away, figured little kids would be long gone by the time i got there anyhow

Omg, I so wish I did that a few weeks ago. I was leaving from my moms neighborhood, lady on the side walk with stroller yelled for me to "slow down." I was in second gear, and was just under 25. I wish I slammed on my brakes at that time (would have stopped in a matter of feet) and told her to STFU.

Seriously, its just like cops. Pure profiling. And yet, the other day going through my moms neighborhood, this b!tch in her Minivan is flying through the neighborhood. Such bs.

Oh, and my mom is guilty of using those kids signs. I don't mind it so much, as at least it warns the driver that there are kids play around on the sidewalk or whatever. To be honest, it nots just about her kids, I think most people would honestly feel some serious guilt if the hit a kid and hurt them, even if it wasn't their fault.
Let me get this right, you told a woman who was with a baby to "Shut the F... up!" because she thought you were driving too fast? Does anyone else see anything wrong with this picture? I bet you would not have said that if it were a huge, muscular guy

I would have said it regardless of who it was.

If I'm only doing 25, which is the speed limit in neighborhoods, then they have no right to tell me to slow down; regardless of how fast he or she thinks I am going.

Should you not take the high road and just say "yes ma'am" and keep going?

I think this thread has a lot of people without kids. And I don't quite understand the anger at a sign that WARNS you that kids are out, so you might be a bit more AWARE.

I live in a neighborhood where kids SHOULD be able to be in the street without being driven down by a car. I played in the street my whole freaking life. This is a strange thread.

Now the whole being yelled at to slow down when you're going slow, those people are just idiots, and should be ignored.

dude, i dont think you get it.

i have been hassles by the cops about this shit before.

same neighborhood, was driving to my friends house. someone yells at me and i ignore them as im going 5mph under the speed limit, park infront of his house a 1/4 mi down the street and go inside.

they run inside and call the cops and bitch and moan that some punk kid was speeding through the neighborhood and he's still here, come write him a ticket, etc, yada yada..

cop shows up and rings doorbell and now i have to take my time to go out and show him i have a loud car and let him know i definitely wouldnt want to hit anyone and know there are kids playing, always cautious through the neighborhood, and hope he doesnt realise i have no cat, no exhaust, nothing, just a ****ing downpipe and try to write me a ticket.

**** that.

i will gladly stop my car and let that person know they were in the wrong and they need to think before they act next time.

The signs are fine. Playing in the street is not a big deal. There aren't too many parks where you can ride bikes etc.

On the other hand people that yell at you because they think you are doing something wrong. Screw them.
