Who here has had surgery and wants to talk about it?

Tenblade,

You didn't mention the phenomenon of "dumping" where if the patient has too much sugar intake they go into a close approximation of insulin shock.

Had mine done at a practice that ONLY performs the surgury (BTC - as seen on TV) and have nothing but good to say about them. Was in and out of the hospital (their own facility) in 2 1/2 days. Recovery was about 4 weeks total. I've lost about 155 pounds and maintained my weight for almost 3 years now.

duming syndrome is pretty rare and idiopathic. Its really not an intended effect, unlike the malabsorbtion which is a planned effect of the procedure.
Its good to hear that you're doing well. I've seen toooo many patients that get it b/c they think that it is the cure all and then eat right through it and don't loose the weight. Patient selection is critical for this procedure to work.

Too true..

I saw many people during followup checkups that didn't appear to have changed their lifestyle at all. That's the most important component. The surgury makes it easier to do and has it's own enforcement mechanism (the squirts, gas etc.)
The procedure was pretty much my last choice of options. I didn't take the process lightly. The byproducts have been great: no more sleep apnea, lower blood pressure, massively improved pulmonary function, more energy and...
I can go all night again whoo whoo

Nope. Split me sternum to belly button. Gutted me like a fish. I had to have my gall bladder removed because of blockage anyway.

had a tumor removed from my leg, I was awake the whole time, they numbed my leg with anesthesia, and cut a inch and took it out, then sewed it up, then felt it and saw that he might not have taken it all out, then cut the stitches again, then gave another shot, and repeat the whole process, all while im looking at him. It felt weird but numbed my leg pretty good yea i know its not much compared to your big shots, but im a woose, (I have and excuse, im female )
