Who here has had surgery and wants to talk about it?

Ouch, hope you get better.

I know I can't drive without my middle finger.

Feb 2000 went in to repair torn achille's tendon. Not fun. I'm still pissed about it.

Best wishes Nick! I've taken care of hundreds of open heart patients in the SICU, and it's truly amazing what can be done with modern surgery.

What exactly are you having done for your IHSS/HOCM?

Are your docs planning a myotomy/myectomy, or are you having issues with mitral valve regurgitation?

Are you very symptommatic?

A word of warning: symptoms of IHSS/HOCM can mimick those of an MI (heart attack), i.e. chest pain and decreased perfusion. If you should have to go into an ER, DON'T LET THEM GIVE YOU NITROGLYCERINE. So many patients come into the ER with angina (and very few with IHSS/HOCM), that nurses will often give nitro automatically for those type of symptoms. Because your heart already has a significantly reduced stroke volume, taking nito will make the symptoms worse.

Hang in there, brother- and remember, you have a lot of support, right here.

Big Air competition in Colorado $3000.00 winner take all. Backside rodeo 720 and came up about 2 feet too short, splat
steel plate in left ankle with 5 screws. they had to cut my tatoo in 1/2 to get in. so now it is a cool scar. It did not hurt too bad, but they could not wake me up after the surgery and I wke up the next day in the pediatrix ward with bunnies and crap on the walls, I thought I had died.....

How come you didn't wake up, Matt?

Do you have atypical pseudocholinesterase?

It's something you should know before having surgery again.
