Who own a Plasma Screen at home???
Darkcrow,
Is the screensaver feature available on any of the plasmas now?
Recently learned that bulbs in DLP's don't last very long and are expensive to replace. Missed that bit of news in one of the other posts. May be back looking at Plasma's if the burn-in problem is alleviated and the price drops.
Wish the CRTs' had a little less depth.

this is a great thread! i've been watching the technology for awhile and agree with the suggestions that $3k is the magic point. i'd love to have one in the bedroom.
thanx for all of the valuable info!

Thought I might add that those interested in plasma's might check out Dell computer's website for some of the lowest prices. Click here for the link! They sometimes throw in free delivery. And if you live outside the great state of Texas, no taxes!!!!
Here's more info on a Hitachi rear projection DLP set by Audio Video Interiors. Nice review.

Darkcrow, quick question on the life of the Plasma's. Will they degrade over time if I use it way under the normal usage hours.
Two we have a 70 inch Mitsu, we use it almost 10 hours a day with all the people in the house and have for almost 8 years on the set I believe. We had to replace the tubes once, is a option like this avaliable for the Plasma's. IE the regassing like stated above.
Video games? how does a plasma deal with these. Is it like my projection where you are told to avoid it. This is the big sticking point for me. I bought a 32' flat just for gaming, I simply will not spend that sort of cash if I can't play Halo in widescreen mode.

I cannot watch a DLP projector for more than a few minutes, so I bought a LCD projector. A Sanyo plv-z1 rated at 700 lumens, 800:1 CR, 16:9 native AR, and all for under $1500. Read up on www.avsforum.com.
If I had 5 to 10 grand laying around for a rainy day then yes i'd have one. I'll just wait though until they become the standard and cost a decent price. Do you remember what those handheld dvd players cost when they first came out? A little over a thousand dollars. I just bought one for $250.
