Who would win(F1 vs CART...)?
on any circuit where you need to change gear or brake F1 has huge advantage due to the semi/automatic sequential 7 speed boxes and massive carbon brakes.
Apparently the downforce they run is equal to 1g braking when you step off the accelerator - the car can drive upside down in a tunnel because of the downforce they have got - so corners and stopping is something where F1 is almost untouchable. Oval maybe something else.

I think I read somewhere that starting next year, CART will be running a race in Montreal on the same track that F1 runs, Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Having both series run there in the same year should give a pretty good comparison.
interestingly enough I think the best race would be between an F1 car and a Le Mans car - lets put it this way, those are closed wheels for somethin! They pulled off closed wheels in F1 some years ago to reduce the amount of downforce they could obtain. Now, given a Le Mans car, at 100 miles an hour, could literally drive on the ceiling due to the amount of downforce. *THINK* about that! So, if you remember the little stunt they pulled in Men In Black, driving on the ceiling, it would be entirely possible. Well, that is of course, except for the one Mercedes that flipped several times killing many people some years ago. =/
We're talking about LeMans, right?
Well, if LeMans is configured for max speed (only 2 chicanes prior to the start/finish line), the the course is just a few slow turns, a long fast turn into one hell of a straight-away only broken by long, sweeping s-turns. The return trip is nearly as fast.
I would guess that the average speed for a single lap would exceed 200, since the back straight is pretty much WOT for a long, long time. You could easily be rev limiting in top gear down the back for a while.
