NickT, dont let some of the sour responses deter you. most people are not in touch with their feelings and motivations. they just do what they do like robots.

driving the S to me, lets me feel like something is functional and harmonious in a chaotic, messed up world.

 

i drive for many different reasons...
#1 to get from point a to point b
#2 for the sheer fun of it
#3 to get my adrenaline goin
#4 i'll admit, i like being a hotshot

 

I drive because I love driving

I live in Hong Kong and the expense of having a car there is something that is difficult to justify with any logic. Taxis are dirt cheap, the public transport is excellent, but I just love that feeling of being out in the car, and when the road opens up in front of you, being able to exploit it

Which is why I will be getting another S once the finances allow. We will then be a 2 car family in a place where one car is hard enough to justify .... but I don't care, because I love them

 

I love driving because the feel is great, hearing the sound of the engine, the tires on the pavement, the sound of the wind, the exhaust, just a symphony of sounds that are pleasing to the ear. "For those 10 seconds I am free" lolol stupid fast and the furious quote i always laugh at, but in all reality there is alot of truth behind that.

 

Driving for me is like an escape from reality really. It's a time when no one can really bother you unless you let them bother you.

It's a time of meditation... kind of like a time to just sit back and think about what's going on with your life. From that... it gives you a time to evaluate on what you did or what you're going to do or how to fix other problems that might be going on.

You're feeling mellow... you drive slow.

You're feeling angry or mad... you drive fast.

Top Down of course always helps, especially on a clear sunny day or clear night when you can just look up and look at the night sky filled with stars.

Another great feeling is that you're sitting in a machine that will pretty much do anything you ask of it without hesitation.

i guess now that i think about it, andre is right. i do use driving time to reflect back on things that have happend or have been done. probably also right about how your driving reflects what your thinking of.

seriously i drive to calm down. For me there's something about hearing an engine rev that calms me.

 

So true... there's numerous times that I will completely silence the radio just to hear the engine show it's stuff to me.
