You can buy liquor at a grocery store. GPMike can't.

GPMike is discussing New York. . . once you understand the liquor stores, everything else starts making sense.

You are a godamn moron. Homeless people and degenerates can't afford a beer and they are going to buy an LIRR train ticket to commute to the city? I've never seen a bum on the LIRR. Ever. Maybe you are confusing the subways with the LIRR, I don't know.

Teachers add a thousand times more value than an LIRR train conductor and get paid no where near what they do. I am not knocking what they do, which to be honest....ain't much. I am irate at the sheer CORRUPTION. The MTA is corrupt...corrupt...corrupt. 97% disability approval...yea right. Looks like the government is stepping in as Gov. Paterson is calling for a full investigation. The feds have already seized records.

As for being on feet all day....I say BFD....there are thousands of jobs where people are on their feet all day.

Trust me.... the door won't hit my ass when I leave. I'll be laughing at all the idiots that stay in NY and get anally raped by the state and its institutions as the highest taxed state in the nation to support the welfare recipients and other libtard state programs that do nothing but waste money. Enjoy it.

Ok, I was talking to a friend about airline pilots. Starting pilots make low twenties flying the little twin prop airlink jobbies for several years and work their way up the scale. You can get paid a lot at the top but I think most airlines are still short of $200k. It takes a great deal of skill and years of training and you have the life of hundreds of people in your hands every day.

One of these trains if they are anything like the LRT trains I drove (on a tour before the new line opened) here in Minneapolis has a lever that is labeled "forward" and "stop". If you wanted to go backwards you went to the other end of the train to the forward and stop lever. (it was a bidirectional train) There were also a couple computer failsafes to halt the thing if there were accidents or other issues. Oh, it also had a button for the horn you had to honk at crossings and a control to open and close doors.

Hardly worth $50k to put up with the monotany, but $200k? No way.

I dont work for the LIRR but I know the LIRR isnt like the subway where you have to pay before you board. On the LIRR you can pay for your ticket on the train. Therefore these degenerates just get on the train and hide out in the bathroom and then the conductors either stops the train and get the authorities or physically removes them. On weekends and holidays the passengers are even worse because most of the time they are extremely intoxicated (fighting and vomiting are among the few issues that the conductors address). If you dont know this then your commute probably exist between 6-9am and 330-7pm Mon-Fri with all the other white collar workers who .

comparing teachers to LIRR conductors is like comparing apples and oranges. but teachers work what half the year because they have all holidays, weekends, and summers OFF? Conductors make a lot of money, albeit they work more then teachers.

keep stressing yourself out about NY sooner or later you wont have anymore hair to lose off that skirted egg shell.

This reminds me of the MBTA in Mass as well as the mass turnpike toll booth operators making 55k a year and getting 4+ weeks of vacation time a year.

I love these threads where the union apologists get on here and try to justify outlandish salaries for menial, unskilled jobs.

Wooh, they have to stand all day and deal with a few homeless people. That justifies them making $200,000 and working the system and claiming disability when there's nothing wrong with them so they can play golf all day on the taxpayer dime. I don't know why I bothered going to college.
