Why are people in the midwest so damn fat?

An aside to #5, primarily pertaining to young girls:
I've noticed a backlash against the "perfectionism" of actresses, singers, models, etc. There seems to be a thought that promoting these "models of perfection" creates low self-esteem and whatnot. I've been hearing it for as long as I can remember. The backlash seems to be telling girls that "it's ok to be fat, lazy, and generally unattractive" - none of which are true. Guys are superficial by nature, and while we don't expect you to be "perfect" like Jennifer Garner or JLo or Beyonce or whoever, everyone should strive to be their best. A girl who's a "6" but is at the gym trying to improve herself is much more attractive than a "6" who's sitting at home every night inhaling cheetoes while watching the Bachelor.
Am I completely out on the limb on this?

There is actually more of a pressure for guys to look good. Before it was just okay for a guy to be thin. Now a guy has to have built physiques (like a gymnast or swimmer), be free of body hair, etc. However, some feel that girls want very big and muscular guys which leads guys to have an adonis complex that has been an increasing problem for guys similar to bulimia and anorexia in women.
I've been working out for more than 10 years, I've read up a lot on nutrition and feel that I am quite educated in that department. I work in NYC and I have to say that it's quite difficult to go to a place for lunch to eat a meal that is hearty and satisfying (unlike salad) but is also healthy. That is the problem. People just do not eat right. I am not completely anal about my eating habits but I do curb them most of the time and supplement that with circuit weight training of supersets 3 - 4 times a week for 2 hours a day.

Actually I don't recall reading anything about this but I wouldn't doubt it either. IMO, girls like Jennifer Garner, Beyonce and Jlo have very healthy and attractive figures. They are not built like sticks like most models I've seen. Jennifer Garner is the classic example of a girl with a perfect body. She has the kind of figure most normal girls can get if they eat right, exercise with cardio AND weights (which is often neglected but so important).

As for who has more pressure? Definitely women. Might be a bit different in NYC, but in the places I've been, women don't really look down on an average guy if he brings something else to the table, whether it be wealth or humor or intelligence or whatever.

We are in a vary exclusive "club". That is S2K owners. We can bash and bash and bash fat people because I don't think there are any members of the 300lb club that own (or at least drive) an S3K. I mean how could they?

Every time I go out of California or Miami I see fat people. Not saying everyone is skinny here, just every where else seems to have a large percentage of heavy-set people. When I travel out of the country and see people, they make Californians look fat so I guess it's all relative.
