How many guys are *that* self-conscious though?

Most I know would rather go to the normal gyms to look at the girls.

Think about insurance companies. Now granted, this won't always be true, but take two 50 year old men (or women), one who's "normal" weight and one who's overweight to the point of being obese. Most times, the insurance company is going to have more claims made by the overweight person due to a variety of issues: heart problems, back problems, knee problems, diabetes, etc. Imagine if insurance companies said "hey, if you're considered 'obese' by federal guidelines, you're going to have to pay more for your insurance". That might be the kick in the pants that some people need.....

Let's not forget that you don't have to be extremely overweight to have major health problems.. just look at Bill Clinton.

The healthiest individual in the world can keel over and die at any moment. The insurance industry looks at things statistically, and obese people are going to have more claims - everything from heart problems to bad knees.

Since I'm so close to the US border, friends and I often go down to Seattle, and it's really noticable in the food, the way the portion sizes differ. Your normal bag of chips are larger, there are extra large portions in everything, and the restaurant meals seem a lot larger than what one person could normally eat.
yep. it's a known fact that US portions are at least 30% greater than the rest of the world...

when i was in australia last year i walked into starbuck to order a US size small drink. i found that our small is aussie medium.. so now whenever i go to starbucks i ask them to only fill my drink up 2/3 of the cup.. they look at me funny, like "why would you want less than a small??"

Well there is an "alternative" health club for the non-perfect women called "Curves" and they are all over the place at least in Wisconsin. There isn't something like for men....maybe you can start one called "Love-Handles"

omgosh.. i had so many of my girlfriends raving about curves.. so i decided to check it out.. omgosh.. it was like just a warm up for the kind of training that i'm used to... i joined for a month and quit... i think i only went like 6 times out of that whole month... waste of time and money.
but ur right.. for a woman who has never moved past the couch and kitchen her entire life.. it's great..

Every time I go out of California or Miami I see fat people. Not saying everyone is skinny here, just every where else seems to have a large percentage of heavy-set people. When I travel out of the country and see people, they make Californians look fat so I guess it's all relative.
