Default Why Are So Many Smokers Such Pigs?

Whilst running errands this evening I found myself stuck behind a driver who was smoking. Twice in the space of five minutes he tossed the still-lit butt of a cigarette out the window of his car into the street.

Why are so many smokers such pigs?

Does smoking make you a pig, or does being a pig make you more inclined to smoke?

Any ideas?

I think being a pig makes you more likely to become a smoker. Once they start smoking, there is one more item which constantly needs to get disposed of (cigarette butt) and they just do it wherever they want to. They'd probably do the same with gum wrapper.

this is pretty funny...

i take it you must be an environmentalist? i smoke and i try to toss my cigarettes into trashcans and/or ashtrays... i hardly smoke on the road but if i do, i do litter. keep this in mind though... if cigarette butts on the floor bother you so much, you should take the bus. 1 less cigarette butt on the ground = 1 less car on the road emitting some sort of harmful polutant. same concept. =)

That is about the most idiotic thing I've heard. It's not the same concept.

So anyone who is against littering is now an "environmentalist?" Your comparison of littering to driving a car is ridiculous.

Smoker or not, littering is the basest form of human apathy. It makes me sick. It's not like it's a surprise that you'll need to dispose of your cigarette butt when you're done with it. Use a freakin' ashtray, the world is not your trashcan.

I've always wondered why it's ok for smokers to blatantly litter. Everytime I see that rain of sparks from an errant butt tossed out in front of me it makes me want to pepper their car with a shotgun.

tell me where is the idiocy behind what i stated...and how much of a difference is between car polution and people littering? unless i totally misunderstood him for calling smokers who litter pigs...which i doubt. this should be good...

tell me how is it ridiculous?

what's amusing is the fact you probably care more about what those sparks do to your car than "the world"

Littering is illegal.

Driving a car is not.

Ever stop and think that what bothers people so much about littering isn't the environmental impact necessarily, but possibly the attitude of the person? Your statement that "YOU" should take the bus if it bothers you that "I" litter is assinine at best. Why on earth should someone else change their behavior if YOUR actions are deplorable? That's like farting in someone's face at a restaurant, and saying "If it bothers you, you should eat at home."

It's not really that difficult of a concept to understand, is it?

Well, then again, neither is using an ashtray...
