Yeah, so the white thread is on there because i couldnt get the black thread through the needle head and I really wanted to close the hole as we are getting and have gotten some decent rain and i wanted to make sure my car didnt float. So i needed to do this fix in the window provided.
i am assuming this will not work long term, if it does, then i will be more than happy to deal with the thread.
I wanted to test the molecularified polymerizationalization that Billy Mays was touting
I also bought some turtle wax headlight cleaner for $8 that i will be trying on my minivan. so far, it looks miles better than it was, but that review is forthcoming.
Wandering around walmart is a dangerous thing
P.S looks like fredsters link is what i will be doing in the next few weeks.

Trust me, I've tried everything. There is no glue, tape or iron-on patch that will hold up to the folding and stretching that the soft top does when it retracts. The vinyl repair kit covers the hole nice and clean but as soon as you put the top down it starts to wrinkle and fall off (yes, I let it cure for three days, longer than the instructions suggest). It left a messy goop that I had to clean off.
You have to sew on a patch. I used black elastic waistband material for the patch so it would stretch. Use Tape-Aid under the patch so it will be waterproof. I patched mine several months ago and it's still holding up strong. No leaks in the rain either. And I ordered everything online, no Walmart necessary.
If you don't rush the sewing like I did you won't end up with the loose threads:

I was able to patch a cut in my top by using a 3m contact cement that is used to bond parts to commercial airliners. Clean the offending area, took a small piece of top material and apply the cement to the patch as well as the inside of the top. If it peels off then I'd like to see what the rest of the top looks like
I'll snag a picture of the stuff I used next time i'm in the shop and you can see if anywhere around you sells it.

Be careful out there.
