I'd have to disagree. The innovator is important, but the marketer is equally important. If Gates didn't get the product out to create a marketplace then the ideas could have been stillborn.

Fwiw, Gates didn't invent any markets, he just exploited them best. Just goes to show you that being the first in a market doesn't necessarily mean you'll dominate it.
