Thumbs up Windows Installer

I downloaded the trial version of Dreamweaver 8 on my home desktop PC. It downloaded fine, but when I go to install it, I get a message that says I need to update my version of Windows Installer and when I click "ok", I'm told it can't do it. The message is "Windows Installer - KB884016-v2-x86.exe is linked to missing export NTDLL.DLL:ntOpenProcessToken".

I've tried doing a Windows update and that didn't solve it. What else can I try??? By the way, the computer is running Windows ME.

Thanks!

Not trying to be difficult but you seriously need to upgrade ME to XP. ME had too many problems. Save yourself the numerous headaches and get an upgrade to XP, you'll be better off.

many new programs only work on 2000/xp now. Even the ones that supposedly work on 98/me don't work that well, either.

NTDLL.DLL is only found in NT4/2000/xp by the way.

So if that's the case, why am I getting that message?

Is Dreamweaver 8 not compatible w/ Windows ME????

it is saying ntdll.dll is missing. that would be true with 95/98/me.

If your computer is too old it won't load XP upgrade. Mine was 3-4 years old and crashed when I tried to load XP, had to take it in for repairs. Read the ULTRA FINE PRINT on the XP box, which unfortunately was inside the box. I wasn't able to use it and I couldn't return it.

The computer's 4 and a half years old. Do you still have that XP upgrade? What does the ultra fine print say?

Main thing is 256MB of RAM. If you don't have that, find a copy of Windows 2000 and you'll be fine.
