Default Wisdom Teeth

Yeah, they're coming in. They didn't bother me for years but now the boogers hurt so much I feel like punching my face. I'm 22, and I read that the older you are the more complicated it can get.

They're getting ripped out of my face Tuesday (17th) and I was wondering...
How bad is it, really? All 4.

It depends on the person. I got all 4 out when I was around 22 and it sucked! I went through my pain prescription and the refill and was begging for more but couldn't get it.

My brother on the other hand took his pain meds the first day and didn't take anymore. I've seen people recover in 2 days and some people recover in 2 weeks. It all depends on the person...

I had all four out at once when I was 17, took the first pill (Tylenol with codeine) an hour after the surgery because the oral surgeon said that I should - not because it hurt at all - and threw the rest away. As TraviS2000 wrote, it all depends.

Well, I'm a big sissy and they already gave me the Tylenol 3 (with codeine) just for day to day pain.

I'm predicting an absolutely agonizing experience!

That's what I'm afraid of. How old was your brother when he got his removed? Could it be the age difference?
I think my brother was around the same age...wisdom teeth come late in my family.

What ever you do, always do what they tell you to do because you don't want to get dry sockets / infection / anything abnormal. No smoking, no drinking alcohol, etc... what ever it is, follow it because it will be pure hell if you screw something up.

Oh, and they will give you this squirting syringe thingy to get food out of the holes after you are done eating. The white stringy things you see are NOT the chicken you just ate, they are stitches. Don't rip them out!

I had EIGHT teeth pulled in a span of a few weeks including my four wisdoms. Good times all around. Good luck

I had two out, then the other two out a year later. The first two had not broken through the surface. The doc had to cut my gum open, bust them apart and pry them out with some serious looking tools. I felt slight pain the next day, but nothing serious. I don't think I tool the painkillers for more than one day. The other two has already grown in fully. These two actually gave me some more pain oddly though.. I would describe it as slight discomfort. Nothing serious.. maybe felt it for 3-4 days. I probably didn't take the Tylenol 3 for more than one day this time either. Both times I got laughing gas (yes, it makes everything funny ) and local novocaine.

It all depends on the person. My brother was in a lot more pain than I was.

I've only had one operation in my entire life, and it was a very minor surgery. I didn't take to it well. I was convulsing before I even got my iv. I'm guessing this won't be any different. They'll have to knock me out completely, because if they don't I'll probably have a panic attack mid pull. Sigh.
