going on to 23 and nothing still... They get to be un-comfortable when they start coming out ever so slowly, but after a few days you mouth adjusts to it...

Hm, my wisdom teeth are growing out and the bottom ones are showing half way right now. It hurts time to time, but not too bad. Im 19 btw. Does this mean they should be fully grown by 20ish? Why do people remove them?

Wisdom teeth are removed because they might be overcrowding your jaw (pushing the rest of your teeth closer), or sometime you have an impacted molar where it starts growing from underneath one of your primary molars, or its simply in an awkward position where you wouldn't be able to brush it well, and therefore could be prone to cavities.

Yeah that's BS. It was probably complications with the anesthesia, which is rare.

That occurance would have been very very unlikely. On the order of 1 in a million or less. There had to be some issue that has not been explained in that piece of literature. THe one line about the kinked breathing tube is ludicrous. THat is one thing that is easy to either diagnose or solve and would not be a prolonged problem that would lead to death in this kind of procedure.

My guess (pure guess) is that he probably had an unknown allergic reaction to some drug he got.

RTFA

It says the chance from dying from general anesthesia is about 1 in 700,000. They are speculating that this was caused by a kink in the oxygen line but nothing has been confirmed.

I just posted this because I remembered this thread and saw this news hit Digg this morning...
