better runner...my legs look fine I think but whatever hehe....

In that case, nothing will benefit you more than running - The best way to get good at anything athletic is to keep practicing. You might find that heavy workouts at the gym will make it difficult to run the following few days. Take it light with the lifting until your muscles are "broken in".
I've worked my legs to the point of not being able to walk a couple of days later because I didn't work up slowly. Just one gradual step at a time...
