Can someone please explain the concept of why these chicks play hard to get and expect a guy to chase them? (More particularly a guy that they are in fact interested in). Honestly...I really don't get it? What does it support or accomplish? Are they really that insecure that they feel the need to try and channel attention like that their way? That's pathetic!

I'm assuming that by "these chicks" you mean strippers, so I'll break it down for you.
They play hard to get because they can. If you had women coming into your workplace (every single day/night) to pay you hundreds of dollars because they're sort of obsessed with you, you probably wouldn't want to date them. Life would be simple and easy, all you'd have to do is dance for them and run your hands up their chest and legs for maybe half an hour (lets say you have 5 regular women paying you ~$200/week, totaling to $1,000/week + tips). You'd start to realize that you could manipulate them by giving them your number and maybe even to the higher paying ones, letting them take you out to dinner.
Essentially you'd have them wrapped around your finger with the fantasy that you actually like them. What it would support or accomplish is your high confidence level that you did not have growing up, it would give you a sense of sexual accomplishment by having women constantly interested in you, even paying you to talk to them and be sexual.
Your insecurities would only be that you don't like to admit that your job has no skill or talent necessary (unless you're a very good pole dancer) and you would dream day in and day out of having a sense of social accomplishment. You'd try different jobs that pay or you might even go to school, but you'd be locked in for life making $50-100k a year just getting attention.
And for the record, yes they do feel the need to try and channel their attention like that because they know the more they manipulate, the more money they get...

Like I said before strippers have BIG split personalities. The girl in the club is probably 100% different than the girl at home or school. Also for the confidence booster, most of these girls did not get TONS of attention and when you see them in the club they are 7s, 8s, a couple 9s and 10s but outside of the club they are maybe 6s-8s at best.
If you're looking to pick a stripper up... just do exactly what an interesting girl would do to you if you were the stripper. I.E. don't act like you can be manipulated.

From a young age girls are chased, its a pressure put on from all male peers to find the hottest chick. Most of the Alpha Males challenge each other even at a young age and girls are taught to qualify from a REALLY young age.
So basically the chase game is her way of making sure you're qualified to date her/sleep with her. They do it for reassurance, they do it because they're insecure or don't know whether they're attracted/comfortable with you.
I think Chris Rock said it best, which is are, but girls definitely never back to anything lower than they previously had. Say you have a girl that dates a guy as a freshman who has a car... now all of her next boyfriends WILL need cars to qualify. Or say their next boyfriend has a car AND an apartment... if you want to date/sleep with her you better have both as well.
You can counter this whole action pretty easily by having enough confidence in yourself to walk the other way knowing that there is at least 2 other women in the club equally or more what you're looking for than the girl who is trying to get you to chase them (usually she'll come running back if you don't go after her, especially if she is attracted to you).
