London for a weekend..............absolutely!
My wife and I spent 10 days out in Kent, each day taking the train in to London. I concur with the bus tour idea, so you'll see the major sites first. Then, go off on your own or perhaps just pub crawl. We have fond memories of an evening spent hanging with some locals in the Silver Cross ;->
The best weekend we've ever had was a 3-day bender to Octoberfest. Fly into Frankfurt, grab the rail to Munich and meet up with friends for a heck of a lot of fun. GREAT memories (the ones that survived that is!) It still pains me to think about the trip home, but in a way it hurts so good
