Hmmm, why they heck would a music service that you pay for, have commercials in the first place? I thought that was the whole point...

Cable TV has commercials. So do movies these days. You pay for those, too. Companies put commercials anywhere they think they can get away with them.

I'm glad XM is removing them. Maybe I'd actually consider the service now.

I was reading somewhere (you know that great website in the back of your head where you remember things that may or may not exist ) that the Terk antenae can use the sheet metal of your car to help reception... Again this is from the "website in my mind" that may or may not exist. Something like using tinfoil on an antennae.

Ahh, but the reason people pay for cable (or satellite) is so they don't have to suffer with crappy reception and antennas, and in order to get all the "cable" channels, not to avoid commercials. But when you subscribe to the "pay" channels like HBO or Showtime you don't get product commercials during the shows. When you pay to see a movie at the cinema it is not interrupted with ads. And a lot of people are pissed about the "pre-movie" advertizing BS that is now being done. It was just my impression that the lack of commercials was supposed to be one of the primary benefits of satellite radio is all...

I've mounted a Roady on center consol.
Antenna is in middle of dash, just below the windshield. Very inconspicuous.
As for commercials, they were never very bad. Most channels didn't have them, the few that did were 2-4 min / hr. But this is great to go commercial free. Even better is that they are adding another alternative channel "Lucy", to go with FRED, Ethel and XMU.
The addition of weather and traffic in the 21 cities is nice if you live in one of those, which I don't.
