Default Yamazaki single malt whisky

I work with a gentleman whose surname is Yamazaki, and recently learned of Yamazaki single malt whisky (12-year and 18-year). If it's decent, I'd like to buy him a bottle.

Has anyone here tried it? If so, what do you think?

Thanks!

Finally, I caught you! Do I get a cookie?

And I have no idea what Yamazaki taste like.

Fixed. Thanks!

Those who live in glass houses . . . . (And to think that I was that close to buying you a bottle - instead of a cookie. Pity.)

And if you have no idea, what good are you?

Haven't tried it but all the reviews are very positive. $50 for the 12 yo is not bad.

I had the 12 year, it was tasty but ultimately unremarkable, but I'm firmly in the bourbon camp, so there's that.

Have never heard of Yamazaki but now I'm impatiently waiting to hear from someone who's actually tried it.
