Yorkies
Over the years we have owned several show dogs. We are thankfully no longer into that crap. We have three rescue dogs (2 Poms & a Cocker) at this time and they are wonderful. As you might guess I'm very much in favor of rescues.
Another idea for you if you want a pure bred, show or high quality (breed wise) dog is to attend the local shows and get to know the people that are showing and breeding. If you are willing to settle for a dog that is not perfect show quality you can often get a good deal on a puppy or a dog or bitch that for some reason doesn't do well in the ring. You will likely have to agree to have the dog fixed but unless you plan to show, why not? By going to the shows you will also learn a great deal about the breed which can also be very important. A couple of weeks ago we were offered a finished, highly trained AU Shep free simply because the owner wants to spend her time showing and training her other dogs that aren't yet finished. Since we already have 3 dogs, 5 horses, and a bunch of chickens to feed we reluctantly declined.
