Well, that would be the happy-Disney-ending, but we are talking about striving to be realistic here

we all know that girls love the bad boy....

It will come out that the reason Dirk crashed was that he hit VTEC transistion in the corner, and he didn't keep his steering inputs smooth. In other words, bad driver, not bad car.
