Off-topic Talk Where overpaid, underworked S2000 owners waste the worst part of their days before the drive home. This forum is for general chit chat and discussions not covered by the other off-topic forums.

Are you "living for today" or "saving for tomorrow"?

I blew most of my savings on the S2000 but as I paid cash I am slowly building them back again.

Life is for living but always put some away for a rainy day

I split it 50/50 right down the middle. The way I see it, money serves two purposes; A) To provide security, and B) To enhance the quality of my lifestyle. We've all seen peeps that have these two way out of whack. Like the miser that keeps it all in the bank and then dies with nothing in his life to show for his hard work, and the flagrant fool that loses it all because he didn't pay attention. I try to maintain a happy medium of sorts, but it's probably truly weighted more 70/30 in my life with a bias towards quality of lifestyle...you only live once.

I am definitely saving for tomorrow, but that's just the way I was brought up. Luckily, I make enough money to do both, live for today and save for tomorrow.

You can have fun without having to spend too much in the present...no one is saying to never splurge. However, if people want too much immediate pleasure, there is a price to pay in the future.

I was I could save...I have dug myself quite a hole with credit cards and what not...

After I pay all my bills each month I have $48.50 a week to live on.

So I can never save a cent...I still have $1000.00 in my safe and the wife has $1600.00 left over from our wedding gifts. For a rainy day.

We live in my sister's house...I throw her $300.00 a month and she pays for the phone and cable and Direct TV.

It kinda sucks...but it could all be remedied by getting a better paying job Too lazy though as I usually only do about 2hrs of real work in a 40hour week.

I do have my s2k, my civic, my wifes Integra, the shih-tzu, Dreamcast and playstation...a nice computer a 36" tv and DVD and surround sound...nice stereo also...as well as lots of tools...two bicycles...and soon a motorcycle...plus a wife that I love-taht loves me back so overall life is good.

So yeah I pretty much live for today...you never know when that bus my come and run your ass over...what good will a million dollars in the bank do you then? I do have around 250k in life insurance in case that bus does come...my wife and dog will be ok for a while.
