Sorry, couldn't help that No offense meant, but we (humans) are capable of so much, and we have hardly discovered our own power.
Prayer does change things. Scripturally speaking, if we pray and ask for God's will, it will come to pass no matter how absurd or hard the task is. If God wants that thing to move from its trajectory, it will....period As a counterpoint, if we prayed but it was NOT God's will, our prayers would be pointless. Scripturally speaking again, true Christians pray for God's will, not for what they want as a human. I wouldn't pray "God, make that thing miss us" but would instead pray "God, I would like that thing to miss us BUT may your will be done in it". Refer to Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane - he said, in essence "I don't want to do this, but I'll do it if you want me to". Of course, he "had" to do it....

In short, it all revolves around God's will.

I don't doubt that us humans could potentially deflect this thing, but if God wants it to happen, it'll happen no matter what technology we have.

God may not change the trajectory of the object, but change the orbit of the earth. Afterall, He created it.

How convenient it is that he is focusing on our tiny planet in this unimaginably huge universe...come on, we have another thread discussing this stuff, let's keep it out of this one.

Actually He is not concentrating on our tiny planet...take a look at any planet, see all those meteor craters...well we have them too, erosion just disguises them.

Now I can argue the point the other way, but I do not think that was the point of this thread...

Yeah! How did we go from "The sky is falling, the sky is falling" to "Observations on a religious plane"? You can give "God" as an excuse for pretty much everything. I just farted. Is that God's plan? It was all great fun till a diety got into the picture.
(Doesn't the forum have rules about politics and religion?)

I think ( and this is just a personal view) that we should not think of ourselves as merely insignificant beings on a insignificant planet in a vast Universe. We tend to look to far, while not yet looked at ourselves first. We are the wonders of the Universe. No matter how small and insignificant we are when compared with the Universe itself, we are the single most important thing in our own life.
I understand that God is almighty, but I do believe we do have a purpose too in this World and our actions can change the World. God might have created us, but our fate is in our own hand. I doubt God created us to simply just live and die. We are here to change the World and add a piece of us, a piece which is unique to you or me to the World.
Just a thought

Sorry, but I look at that as melodramatic and too romanticized. I am willing to guarantee that there are a significant number of other intelligent beings in the universe. With how large it is, it's almost mathematically impossible for there not to be. Humans are but of one of these intelligent beings, that's all.

Sorry about that response, let's please try to keep this one on topic. If you want to discuss god, please check out the thread that has over 500 replies.
