Do allot of drugs and DO NOT DRINK COLD LIQUIDS (it really hurts).

They give you a syringe to flush out the food which gets stuck in the holes left behind.
Do not use cold water here either (OMG that hurt more than anything else). Get it up to room temp first.

Get used to soup for the next couple of days.

When they say "don't smoke," don't.

If they don't give you a syringe, have someone get a glue applicator from a hobby shop. It looks like a syringe with a bent end where the needle would go, and a very small hole. Be careful with the pressure when flushing bits of food out of there. I've seen tips like that sold separately ( also at a hobby shop) that will fit onto the end of a regular syringe, which you can get for about a quarter at Walgreens.

I don't smoke so that's not a problem. I don't have the syringe yet (I get it on my checkup) but I have been very careful with my eating habits and have been rinsing with salt water after everything I eat. It's really been a MUCH more pleasant experience than anticipated.

lol, so was I. Careful as I could be. You'll be shocked the first time you flush the holes. Glad it went so well; other people (such as myself) aren't so lucky.

Codeine, but I only took my first few doses of it. After the first day, the ibuprofen has been sufficient for the pain.

If your jaw bone develops long enough so that your wisdom teeth can come out without interfering with other teeth, you don't need to get them out.
