I think the radius of the new rotor no longer matches the radius/clearance inside the calliper. I think if they tried to get the calliper closer to the hub, to get full pad contact, the rotors would contact the calliper body. Just a guess though..

correct. The 330mm rotor contact the caliper body. You have to use the included extension to push the caliper out. They could of made the caliper where the pads sit a little deeper as it looks. But I don’t know how the internal of the caliper is. I haven’t driven immune yet, but I took a grinder and trimmed ears on pad so they fully contact rotor

Incase someone wants to research the ballade rotor and spoon. To be Honest, had Ballade mention that there is an overhang for the brake pads with the spoon caliper and the upgrade rotor, I would not have purchased it.
They wont accept a return since it was already installed. How the hell are you supposed to know of the overhang of the brake pads if you dont install it.

Ballade said trim the ears, and I asked them, wont that accidentally backout the pads incase of a road bump or something. the answer was to use brake grease. I am not comfortable with that.

So now I have to think of a way to hold the pad down (like a brembo brakes retainer clip) after trimming the brake pad ears. I will try this out next week since I have a spare set of brembo evo 8 and evo X brembo calipers that I can get the brake pad retainer clips from.

How did you get on with the retainer clips solution?

Has anyone installed or know anymore about the Project Mu 330mm 2 piece front rotor kit that can apparently be used with the Spoon monoblock caliper? I’m interested in getting some but want to see if it has the same issues as the Ballade kit.

Thanks,
Andy

Damn, that overhang is worse than I imagined. Looks like at least 3-4mm overhang.

I've been wondering myself as well. Can't find anyone who's tried the Project Mu 2-piece with Spoon monoblocks.

I've been scrolling through this thread and there are tons of pics with no mention of which wheels they are, wheel specs, or if spacers were needed...

Anyone able to confirm if Advan RSII's in 17x8.0 +54 would clear the Spoon calipers without spacers? I ordered some Enkei PF01's a month ago only to be told just kidding not in stock until Halloween so I'm looking at other options.

Initially was hoping for Mugen GP or Volk TE37 but at this point I'm pretty much willing to take anything that is actually in stock.
