You can use the OEM hood for the version 1 intake. However, you'll need to cut the underside of the hood just like the version 2 intake.

This one is going to make its way on my wife's car in the next couple of weeks....I'll take pics of the fitment and the cut.

Forgot if i posted this yet or not..

it showed up at my door, then it went right back out in the mail to Jet Hot...

Looking nice. I like when people take high-end mods and customize them further...taking something that's somewhat hard to come by and making it rarer.

Do you know how that'll wear with the heat from the motor? Will it tarnish the coating to a dull polish...or hopefully the heat cycling will 'rainbow' the coating.

My opinion, leave the heat shield off...the pipes look beautiful.

Thanks for the compliment

From what I understand, it will produce that slight coloring (rainbow-ish), but not a lot.. it should be very slight..

I am on the fence about leaving heat shield on or off... I got it coated as well but I wasn't sure what the temp difference would be on and with it off... I may it run it both ways to see...

Eventually, I'd like to mate the header with the exhaust (2011 project)... hood and intake are a few years down the road....

My experience with the heat shield that Mugen provides is that they crack. I have three of them to prove it. They crack by one of the mounting bolt holes.

I'll try to take a pic of them next to each other when I get home or over the weekend to show you where.

Personally I would mount the included heat shield. Pipe coating looks great but the shield mounting brackets that are welded to the header don't look right exposed.
As for the shield being prone to cracking, just don't overtighten the bolts. As long as the bolts are snug you're good.

Fiberglass hood doesn't match the CF hardtop...so that's not happening.

Actually for hers, it's either going to keep the OEM hood or I'm going to try and find a J's Racing version 1 hood (the one with the single vent that spans the width of the front of the hood).

Her car is going to stay clean...not too overdone if you know what I mean.
