Default Bad weekend for my S...

I had a terrible weekend in driving my S2k. It's my only form of transportation since my Accord is in the shop gettings its windows replaced and the doors repainted from a break in.

It all started last night (Saturday evening). I was headed to Fremont to watch some sprint car races and this raccoon ran out in front of me. Some dude was tailgating me pretty hard and I thought about slamming the brakes but he would have rear ended me easily. There was also another car coming the opposite direction so I couldn't swerve to miss it. Needless to say, I hit it. Didn't do any cosmetic damage, but it sure did smell a whole bunch. Had blood and guts all underneath the car. Had no time to clean it before the races so I stopped at a car wash after the races and sprayed all underneath it and cleaned as much as I could (it was dark).

Then I went to Toledo after the races... on my way home to BG from Toledo I hit another, even bigger, raccoon. Again, no where to go and it ran out in front of me.

I couldn't go to Cars and Coffee today because when I woke up and went into my garage the smell was terrible. I spent 8 hours cleaning the undercarriage and spraying everything down with vinegar. It helped a lot, but some of the smell is still there... it's not as bad anymore, but just a tiny lingering.

Anyone have any suggestions on cleaning the undercarriage... products, concoctions, remedies?

My poor car...

My g/f hit a skunk in her Si, and it stunk up the whole house.

I sprayed it out and power washed it, tried using some dish soap, and then purple power degreaser.

It helped, but only a little.

If I wanted to very thorough, I would try to put the front end of the car up on jack stands, and clean it by hand. I don't know of a good odor neutralizing product that would be good to use on a car though... fabreeze I guess.

I share your pain. I hope everything ends up cool.

Last summer. Within 3 days. I hit 7 raccoons. The one night I hit 5 at once cuz a family of them were crossing the street. It exploded my front bumper into a million pieces.

Try the wash and wax forum and see if anyone has ideas on this one. I know someone who hit a beaver years ago and it shot through the radiator and blew the motor.
