Need some information about headlights

So this morning while starting my car I turned my headlights on. My right headlight flickered then turned orange and went out. If I turn my headlights off then on again it comes on for a few seconds but then goes out. Does this mean it is burnt out or could it be a bad connection???

Also if I do have to replace it......can you just replace the ballyst or do you have to replace the whole headlight assembly???

Replace the ballast. But also look at the bulb. If it has a burn spot on it, time for a new one and they are expensive.

 

HID bulbs should last nearly the life of your car ... I would think it's the ballast.

 

True to a point. They do go bad all the time.
