Default Headlight Lens Question

I had someone run into my front bumper and crack my headlight about a year ago. Long story short, everything was fix and replaced but my left headlight looks so much better than my right one because it's brand new. I would prefer not to buy an OEM headlight for $400 so knockoff eBay headlights look tempting for $250. I wouldn't actually be using the knockoff headlights, just the clear plastic lens from them. Has anyone else done this? Thanks!

I was in a similar situation when I placed a smoked film to protect my headlights. It was so thick, trapped the heat (Texas heat) or it could have shrunk over time and eventually caused micro cracks on the lens. I looked at the cheap ebay headlights but I don't think it's worth it and may end up replacing it again over time. I would think that these are made with softer material and more prone to scratches. What I did was I found an ebay seller who owned a auto scrap yard that happened to have headlights with broken tabs that he's selling for cheap. So I ended up buying them. Sometimes on this forum, someone will post for sale headlights with broken tabs. Hope this helps.

I wouldn't do that. I bet the ebay lens would fade and haze very quickly. I would give your OEM lens a really good sand and buff and see what happens
