I've had an iPod for a couple of years now. I did get Shure E2C headphones for mine for Christmas. A highly recommended upgrade for any iPod. I'm not an audiophile, but I noticed a huge improvement in sound quality. And they are noise isolating, which is great for airplanes.

Hey Larry...

Are these better than the crappy foam falling off earbuds?

The Shures are much better than the Apple-supplied headphones. They come with 3 different types of sleeves, each in 3 sizes. They are designed to fit in your ear canal, which can be uncomfortable for some people, though. I've been using a sleeve that is made of the same type of foam as those squishy earplugs. You compress the foam, put it in your ear, and then the foam conforms to the shape of your ear canal, blocking most exterior noise. They also come with silicone and rubber covers. The E2c is actually their bottom of the line model at about $100. The E5c is around $500, which seemed a little outrageous for an iPod. Like I said, I'm not an audiophile, but I noticed a pretty big improvement in sound quality. Another bonus is with the sound blocking properties, I never have to crank the volume to overpower outside noises, which extends the iPod battery life slightly, and my hearing will last a bit longer, too. Here's a pretty good article on them:

cool, thanks. The standard ipod earbuds are uncomfortable. I think my ears are too small.

I was checking out the Alpine head units and ipod interface thingy at Best Buy. I really like that setup and being able to control the ipod through the head unit. Do any of the Alpine head units interfere with the radio door?
