Default Wheel Balancing Options

I've heard about an advanced wheel balancing option which balances the tire under load, not just by spinning it, but it costs substantially more. ($76 vs. under $40 for 2 tires). I just bought a new set or rears (Thanks, Hardtopguy!) and was looking for a place to mount them, and a coworker suggested Automotive Excellence in North Royalton (where his brother-in-law works). They have a Hunter machine and also offer this extra service.

Does anyone know about this, and is it worth the extra $$$?

You will not notice a difference. I recently had my front tires flipped and balanced by a machine that will place the weights behind the spokes(really slick). Anyways, demount, remount, and balance was $16 each and was smooth as glass at 130mph this evening. The only other type of balance that makes a difference is an on car balancer since this method would also balance the rotor and compensate for hub that had excessive runout. All of the Lexus dealers used to balance tires this way, but guess what happens when you rotate you tires you need to balance again. When I had my shop, I had an on car balancer and it never paid for itself. I learned to mark the tires so that if a customer came back with a balance issue, I could tell if the tires had been moved or rotated.
