Consider the Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport.

I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Well, I opted for the RE-01R...in fact, I didn't see the RE760 Sport as an option, but I was looking for a pretty stupid level of performance.

They're now mounted up, and I have to suffer through 500 miles of conservative, bow-tie wearing, boring a$$ driving before I can flog this thing again.

Really, really tough looking tire. Little bit of road noise, but pretty comfy to drive around town so far (especially relative to the non-existent tread I left behind). The guys at Goodyear got me in and out during lunch, which was very cool. He was a little freaked out by the UTOG rating of 180, but I drive less than 7k miles a year, so I'm not sweating it. For now.

Julie has a lot better memory than I do. A LOT better. Of course, I'm older, so I know what she's going to be in for later in life.

In any event, I was frightened to see that I went through a set of tires in a short 28 months. Yes, I had worn the RE-01R's down to about 1/32"...and allow me to warn anyone else against doing so.

My right-front was losing air...slowly at first, then about 10-15psi a day. I had someone look at it over lunch, and when they pulled it off, they found that a sizeable strip of rubber where the shoulder meets the tread, all the way around the tire, FELL OFF. It FELL OFF. It FELL the fudge OFF (paraphrasing Ron White).

I can think back to when it happened, but I didn't know it at the time. Thankfully it was leaving a stop light, nice and slow. FLAP FLAP FLAP FLAP FLAP FLAP, then quiet. Had I known, I wouldn't have been taking the off-ramp from the BA to the southbound Creek turnpike at 85 - 90 mph every night on the way home (at least every night traffic allowed).

These tires were epic performers. Just stunning grip levels, wet or dry. They were perhaps more amazing in the wet because you expected at least SOME slip.

Anyway, I cannot spend time waiting for RE-11's to get in, so I'm going to the RE-760's and give them a shot tomorrow. They have a high bar to clear - we'll see how they do. They should last almost twice as long, but hopefully they have more than half of the performance.

P.S. Super-thanks to Julie for reminding me about this thread. I'm going to see about finding some of those vitamins that help you remember stuff. I forget what it's called, but I'm getting some.
