Hmmm.... Did I read Float Trip! It's been a couple of years for us as well. Sherry, I and a close group of friends use to go every year, spend the night in tents, and leave the next day. No drinking involved as I don't drink

Missouri has some nice float trip areas if you would consider that. WOuld love to jopin you, but don't know if time will allow us to do so.

Where exactly is that river located?

 

The Illinois River runs thru Tahlequah which is about 70 miles southeast of Tulsa. The Mulberry River is in Ozark, AR which is about 150 miles from Tulsa.

 

If this is on a weekend, it sounds like alotta fun! And it's affordable...

Based purely on driving distance for me, I like the idea of the Illinois River.

I'll do my best to make this trip! I leave tomorrow for a three-day trip down the Buffalo River, which is another river to consider. It is one of the best floating rivers in the area in my opinion, and there are some great roads in that area.

The Mulberry may not be a good choice for a relaxing day of floating and partaking of libations since it has quite a few class II+ and class III rapids, although it is a great river. I spent three days on it last spring kayaking with some other kayakers and a couple people in whitewater canoes. We pulled a lot of people out of the river after their canoe got swamped or they dumped it in a rapid. In low water it may not be too bad, although you may drag a lot.

 

Wow, the Buffalo River looks/sounds like a good one, too! We'll definitely keep that in mind. Thanks, Jamie!
