Yes our gas is a little better but the reason you won't find many stations with 93 is our altitude. OKC is over 1200 feet above sea level. Dallas is only 350 it doesn't sound like much of a difference but it is enough that we don't have to run the higher octane in our premium cars. I work in Heber Springs AR and we are at 400 feet. most all of our stations offer 93 but you go just 45 min north and east into the ozark mountains and it is 91.

It has to do with lower air pressure as you get higher above sea level. The lower the absolute pressure in the cylinder the lower the heat in the compression stroke. So the higher octane isn't needed to prevent detonation. This is all fine and dandy unless you are boosting or have a high performance tune which needs a bit more octane to make up for the added heat in the compression stroke.

Sorry about the long winded reply

lol... norman... fix streets...

If you don't see CHONCH rolling around (whom I never do...), you'll probably see me.

CHONCH did mention all the good gas stations, except for one - Classen Convenience located right before Highway 9 on Highway 77 towards Noble (if you're driving south).

Welcome to the neighborhood.

(also, note: octane grades don't = performance... 101, 93, 91 - your running 91 thanks to the compression, and octane grade is based on burn/energy put simply)

Yes the higher the altitude the lower the octane needed for most cars
