First estimate is in, Hourglass quoted $1252, for about $400 extra they will paint the bumper, hood, and lip. Considering this has to claim against the Honda's policy it will be a $200 deductible.

so $200 deductible plus $400 for the bumper, hood and lip? Thats a great price if the results are perfect.

We have the car back, and I have to say I'm very dissapointed in Hourglass at this point. When we arrived to pick the car up after numerous missed completion dates I expected it to be top notch. The first thing I noticed was one of the side marked lights was sticking out further than normal. They had broken the clip tab on the clear light and had tried to trim snot the light in. They are buying me a new light, I came home and installed the ambers until the new one shows up. The bottom of the fender was sticking out, they said they couldn't adjust it any better. I fixed it today in the driveway. The overall paint match is very good, but there are alot of imperfections in the paint that I see, they fixed a couple while I was there but it is going back for more this week. For the amount of time it took them to "detail" the car it is a sloppy job, there is still crud under the hood, and on the door jams. The driver side running light(amber in the headlight) was out, I pulled the inner fender and found it disconnected still. The passenger side inner fender is broken at the outer edge near the back, they used some non-standard fasteners to try to hold it in. I changed the oil today in the car and installed my home made grill inserts and discovered a number of the plastic pop clips missing, and all of the bolts that mount the lip to the bumper on the bottom are missing. The bumper plugs and driver side lock plug are missing, they found them and are painting them aslo. And lastly there is a small scratch on the passenger side wheel lip.

Granted I am probably the 1% Customer that will find these things, for most Customers the car looks great and they are happy. I am not happy, and they will keep working on the car until they get it right.

That is totally unacceptable. I have to say that I am suprised by this. Most of the time hourglass does great work. Maybe they have fallen off since the last time I was there (about 3 years ago).

I would talk directly with management. Hourglass has a good rep... this is not acceptable. Fine if they are fixing the grocery getting Benz... but not if they are fixing "specialty" cars. I mean specialty in the sense that if the owner is picky... they will need to do a very complete job.... regardless of make and model.

Make them fix it.... and do it right.

They have a great ruputation, their quality of work on this didn't show it though. I talked to my rep this morning, they are going to address all of the issues, car is going back in next Monday.

He indicated he and his management were going to have a discussion with the Technician that did the work on the car. I've painted cars many times(in the garage) and I am shocked at the quality of the paint surface that is coming out of a paint booth by a "Professional". I expect imperfections in the garage as it is difficult to control the quality of the air. In a paint booth I'm not certain why you would have imperfections if everything is set up properly. Alot of what I see is that it appears someone just didn't care, that is on all aspects of the repairs. I'm not certain if this is because the Management team is pushing them too hard to get things done quickly, or if they just don't care.

Regardless they are going to fix it.

Update

Dropped the car off at noon on Monday, my expectation is that they would be on the car right away, and that we would have it back by Friday at the latest.

We were out tonight so I thought I would check up on Hourglass. Our car was sitting in the back lot, and nothing has been done to it yet. We were told the car would never sit outside.

So I am headed in first thing in the morning to have yet another discussion with them regarding my expectations.

I'm absolutely shocked at the level of service from these guys, at this time I would say never use them.

Wow, that sounds a little too much like another member's (or two or three) recent experience(s) with Mastercraft. That is absolutely unacceptable.

Thanks for the update. Let us know if there's anything we can do to help get these yahoos' act together.

Just talked to Hourglass.

The delay in starting the car has been because they were debating on how to fix the car. The big paint flaw in the bumper they were trying to sand/buff out. I told them it was in the color and there was no way it was going to buff out(DOH!). I also told them there should be no debate on how to fix the car, fix it right! I indicated they were screwing around debating while I was doing without a car, and that I would like a rental car since this is their issue, not mine.

Strangely enough, the car will be done tomorrow.

We will see.....
