Pathfinder vs. S2000
Everytime I update this thread I feel like Debbie Downer.....WAH WAH WAAAAAAHHHHHH.
So we go to pick up the S today, this is after they promised it to us on Tuesday after they missed the deadline last Friday. I talked to them this morning and they assured me it would be ready at 4:30-4:45. We arrived at 5:00 to give them a little extra time.
We are excited, surely after all of this they must have pulled out the stops and done their best work. There can't be anyway they could screw this up even more, is there? Yup, they must have the finest idiots in the land working on my car, because yet again they have tried to deliver crappy work to me.
We roll into the showroom and the car looks pretty good from a distance, good color match. Laura starts going over it with a white glove. Nibs on the hood and driver's fender where we had already pointed them out on the last trip. Overspray is still on the windshield post. Masking tape residue on the rear bumper. Lot's of orange peal on the lower part of the front bumper, passenger marker light is missing. Still non OEM fasteners in the wheel liner on the passenger side, and the fasteners in the bottom of the lip still aren't correct(they used popits). And then the one that tops them all, they had buffed through the paint where the front bumper meets the fender on the driver's side, a 1/8" wide by 3" spot. All of this was after we gave them a list of what needed to be fixed, and the extra time was spent on "QC" to make sure it was right. So at this point I think the bumper is going to be painted again, they thought they might be able to fix it but based on what I've seen so far my confidence level is pretty low.
After all I have been through it is beyond my comprehension how these guys have the reputation they do. There is no way my car is an isolated incident.
Hopefully we will have the car back, fixed properly by the end of next week......

Here we go again,,,
WAH WAH WAAAAAAHHHHH
Shop Manager called me yesterday evening, indicated everything was done except replacing the OEM fasteners, and that would be done in the morning. I told him we couldn't pick the car up until noon so that would work.
We roll into the shop about 1230. Hardware hasn't been changed yet, big chip in the driver's fender above the headlight, more paint blemishes. Laura is about to lose it. I ask to speak to the owner. I talked to him about all of the issues on the car, and what we have been through, and how it doesn't match his reputation. He is VERY understanding, wants 1 more chance to fix it, and will own the project personally. Finally I am getting the reaction I should have gotten the first time this was done incorrectly. So we have the car for a week, it will go back in a week from Monday to be fixed properly....

Or so you hope. Keep expectations high... keep hope low.

He did say, and I have felt this way from the first time we tried to pick the car up that occasionally he has a car that has a "black cloud". But that when he does it will always be fixed, and never leave with issues. He also admitted that they have been overwhelmed with the work they have had to do lately and dealing with the heat.
On the up side the color match on the paint is excellent.....
Haven't updated this in awhile, finally got the car back after being in the shop another 2 weeks. The paint looks good, but as usual the attention to detail doesn't meet my standards. I have no choice but to accept what they have done, then fix the minor stuff myself. Otherwise it will be there another 2 weeks and something else will be screwed up.
My opinion of this shop hasn't changed, I can go on and on about the lack of Customer sevice, the poor quality etc....
But I won't,,,at this point we have the car, the paint is acceptable, and I will spend the detail day removing overspray, polish sling, and adjusting and securing the things they didn't.

Well I thought I would give this a little update....
The S had a little incident with a tree branch so we took it to Barron and Hart yesterday for a little repair on the quarter panel, and a new top. I found out they use Scott's to install the top which pleases me as I have done business with Scott's before and they are top shelf.
We talked to the Adjuster and ask him to take a look at the work done by the previous hackers at Hourglass and give us an estimate to fix it. I got the call today, the bumper cover has so much paint on it they will need to replace it to guarantee their work, plus they found many(many many many many) other issues from the hackers at Hourglass. The good news is it will only be an additional $1k to fix it so I gave them the go ahead. Now I am going to see if Hourglass will step up and cover some of the cost(I doubt it). When I called to talk to the Manager I have dealt with he is no longer there, he seemed like a good guy, I was surprised he could work there.
