The research continues: I'm thinking polished wheels will be a bear to keep in good shape. Chrome will run me about $1200 for the set (example below). Anyone have any experience with a silver colored powdercoat? Assuming I can get a good color, that sounds cheaper and lower maintenance. True?

Polished with ceramic coating looks great and doesn't require much maintenance.

Huh. First powder coating guy says he won't touch aluminum wheels - to much variability in the outcomes, he says. Anyone get that before?

a good powder coater should be able to do aluminum wheels, i have had several sets done by portland powder coating. $1200 is a lot of money! you could get some enkie rpf1 with the sbc finish almost for that price brand new.

rpf1 with the sbc finish, last i saw these were $1350 shipped new with a free set of lug nuts.
