Default Clutch Question

Hey just a quick question, are the clutches on the 2001 models Hydrolic clutches?
I guess my question is, does it mean that if my clutch "engagement" area drops down, closer to the floor board, does that mean my clutch is going out?

The wife drove it for the past week, when I got her back (the S2000) I asked her if the clutch felt lower to her, she said no its always like that.
Well its not and it is now lower to the floor...

what should I do?

81,000 miles and a CEL that we have tried it all on, thats another issue between forged performance and us

S2000 clutches are hydraulic that's why there is a little reservoir near the brake booster . First thing to do is check the fluid level and bleed the system to remove any possible air bubbles. If that doesn't change anything the slave cylinder is probably done for.

Bleeding the clutch is the first thing to try.

OK
She was dry on the fluids (not empty but a bit beyond Low or add level)
I added more DOT3 and bleed it a good amount, but the level of engagement is still very low to floor
any suggestions?
<Ooops No leaks either >
Both Master and Slave look like a fairly decent replacement if it has to be done.

I am in hopes its not needed but I await your guys Brilliance !!

It also appears that I have regained about 60% of what I had.... still really low to floor but it does feel as though it pumps up stronger....

How can I be sure I got all the air out?
BTW how does one completely flush the fluids, up top in the fill area its ugly black in color

thx again all

Thanks
Might have to do once I am certain I am not doing the recycle when I install my new Master or Slave
Well I have about a 2 inch play at top and it still feels lower then usual.
How will I know if my Master or Slave are going bad?
The slave protective Boot was long gone and the rubber sleeves looked as though they have seen better days, greased up a bit.

Thanks again and I greatly appreciate any offerings as to what steps to take from here out.

On the slave cylinder, peal the rubber boot back and you should not see any fluid. If there is then the seals are going bad. On the master cylinder look up under your dash where the push rod goes through the fire wall into the master cylinder. If you see any sign of fluid, even if its very light, then the seals are leaking.

when you clutch stars going bad i can change where the engagement is. When your pressure plate spring tires it tends to flex more before it lets go of the clutch disk. so it will take more clutch pedal travel to release the clutch.

If you have gotten all the air out of the hydraulics, nothing is leaking and you want to change your pedal is on engagement, there is a jam nut on the push rod of the master cylinder that can be loosened. Then you can adjust the free play of the pedal.
