Yeah, I know... It isn't the $97 fine, but the fact that Doug is going to really be a hard sell now!

Dude, I told you that eventually you would get nailed! Besides, the hardest part of the 'sell' was with the wife.

But, I was this close || (read as fingers 1/2 inch apart) to taking mine off. Portland cops are a$$e$ anyway, but he should have let you explain before giving you the ticket. My question is, how are you going to attach the plate?

As far as Brandon getting away with it, that is just because the country cops have nothing better to do than harrass people (see post about being pulled over b/c fitting a profile)

When I had the original mounting holes filled, I had some "stealth" brackets intalled in the lower lip. There were thin covers over these mounting holes - difficult to see unless you knew where they were.

I then flipped the stock mounting plate over and attach it to the low mounting holes. Here is where I mounted the plate.

I think it looks better low than up on the nose in the factory location.

With the Lotus, I plan to play dumb and say, "honestly, I've got no clue how to mount a plate on the front of this thing, officer," and hope he looks at the gray in my hair and lets me go...

Well, good luck. That didn't work for me.

He came up to my car and said he stopped me because i was not displaying a front plate and asked for my license. He went back to his bike, ran my license and returned with the ticket. I wasn't givent the opportunity to play dumb.

My gray hair didn't help. The cop also had gray hair.

Man that sucks to hear, I have a few scratches on my bumper and no plugs in the holes so I could easily say it came off in an accident the same day, one of the few perks of having a very less than perfect s2000.

ps- Bz.... did you notice the LM's with tires for $3k shipped in the FS forum

Yeah, I did see those LM's in there Are you going to jump on that or what? If I had the funds I would for sure. LM's

Look for my post with some "Brandon" quality pics of my new wheels

When I was pulled over for the plate it was in Gresham bouth times I try to avoid Gresham like the plague. Those are the worst cops I have encountered

Is the ticket considered a moving violation (or, put another way, does it impact insurance by counting as the sort of violation on your driving record) or is it simply an administrative assessment, $97 and you're done? If it's a simple "pay to play" fine, I don't really care. In 5 years with the S2K and a year with the Lotus, I've never been stopped and neither car ever had a front plate. I can live with $97. I'd hate to pay more for insurance as a result though.

I got away with it for a year and a half....

No, it does not affect your insurance - only "moving violations" do that.

Wow I'm sorry to hear about that, Larry. Knock on wood, I've had mine off for almost two years and never anything. I actually think I like the stock location a little better ...
